Served 19 years in school District 189 as teacher, principal, personnel director, and District Superintendent.  He has been a precinct committeeman and Mayor of East St. Louis.  Mr. Mason has been on the Executive Board of the Comprehensive education Committee, a member of the original Model Cities Planning Commision, and a member and board director of the Madison, St. Clair Urban League.  He is also a member of Phi Delta Kappa and alpha Phi Alpha.
